Client: WeAre8
Project: A Social App And Platform With A Conscience

To successfully build a community, a social network has to offer something truly unique these days - and that’s exactly what WeAre8 does. A groundbreaking social app and digital advertising platform with zero tolerance to hate, WeAre8 has a visionary new business model that values people's time and lets them reclaim their economic power, by paying them to watch ads. Money is also donated to charitable causes and goes towards carbon offsetting.

To launch and help raise the profile of the app and platform in the UK media, 33Seconds has been operating an ‘always on’ press office, including news announcements and creative features pitching, as well as securing profile opportunities for WeAre8’s key celebrity investor and ambassador: Rio Ferdinand.

As part of this activity, we’ve announced WeAre8’s investment from Channel 4 and Centerstone Capital, with a $15m Series B funding round, which is helping to support the platform’s ambition to transform digital advertising. We also announced the company’s crowdfunding, which saw it extend its Series B with UKTV and launch a Crowdcube round to empower the public to own the social media of the future.

In the first quarter alone, we secured more than 50 pieces of coverage, ranging from the Evening Standard, BBC Breakfast and The Independent, through to TechCrunch, EU Startups and Manchester Evening News.
